What are the pros? most tender, tasty okra
What are the cons? may irritate some skin
For years I was a fan of Clemson Spineless--that old heirloom favorite. However, it has to be harvested every day or the pods begin to get woody as they enlarge. Silver Queen stays tender for a much of its growth. My only problem is that certain plants (okra and green beans) make me itch if I don't wear long sleeves and gloves when I harvest. Not everyone may have this problem. This is my favorite okra; it freezes well and is super tasty and tender. I sent some seeds to Baker Creek a few years ago; I don't know if that helped get this fine plant listed--but I'm thankful for whatever reason they now carry it.
