An early Pink Eye, Purple Hull type, produces lots of tasty cream-colored seeds that have a pink "eye." Small plants with reddish-purple pods. Sent to us by a customer.

What are the pros? Excellent Pea Formation

What are the cons? Favored by Deer

Review:

They sell 2 variants of this pea here in the local area. Both grow and mature quickly, I planted late once soil was well into the 80f range. Neighbor planted in much cooler soil, both our plants matured out within a week of each other. These are highly sought by local patrons of the Farmers Market. So much so most growers will forgo raising other varieties. Whether mechanically or hand planted these peas perform well and would definitely serve the small farmer well. They have been both cooked and put in the freezer locally holding taste and structure over short storage periods. I have a 15 person family so nothing remains stored for long :).

Review:

I grew these in GA (outside of Atlanta). These were easy to grow and produced pretty well. It was my first year growing these and I had no bug problems. However, large black ants would stand guard at the head of each pea pod and attack my scissors when I tried to cut the pod. I will grow these again.

Review:

These are so prolific that this is the only cowpea I will plant this summer. The taste is incredible.....sort of a buttery taste and not as dry as blackeye or pinkeye purplehull.
