What are the pros? Beautiful plant

What are the cons? Very temperamental.

Review:

I planted a few last year. I had one amazing plant in a pot that took her time taking off but once she established she was quite prolific! She went to flower and eventually seed even!!. However, she would only thrive in one particular spot in the garage with the door open just so. If I moved her, she wilted. And I could only water when she began to show signs of heat stress, not before. Such a brat! So there she stayed unit winter began and I harvested all the leaves. There's a very interesting research paper out there about Stevia's efficacy against Lyme disease in vitro so this herb intrigues me! Also I live for it's sweetening capabilities. You must be patient and "listen" to your plant. PS: I never call a plant "she" but I swear SHE had a personality!

What are the pros? organic lo-cal swetener

What are the cons? low germination

Review:

I admit, I ordered the seeds, then did the research on growing stevia. The germination rate is noted to be low and on article stated 40% germination is good. That said, I have gotten a couple plants going and hope to get some cuttings in the fall for overwintering. I know now why the general advise on growing stevia is to start with a rooted cutting, but for me it was still worth it to give the seeds a try, since I got the plant I wanted. The leaves are definitely sweet and I like them muddled in iced tea but I don't know how this Sweetie Star compares to the other variety offered.

What are the pros? Homegrown sweetener

What are the cons? Still nothing..

Review:

I was very excited about growing my own Stevia but I have not had anything really grow yet. I tried a few seeds directly into my raised beds a couple weeks ago and several more indoors a few weeks before that. I had one sprout in my bed but it does not see to be growing. It is certainly possible that I am doing something wrong but all my other herbs have done very well.
