85 days. Flesh is a gorgeous strawberry pink, ripening to within a half-inch of the rind, and usually has very few seeds. Fine grained, distinctively flavored and super sweet, it is classed among the best-tasting by those who have tried it. The oblong, striped fruits reach 15-25 pounds. With moderate disease resistance, this variety deserves to be the star of your summer garden. Originally selected from a Florida heirloom by Walt Childs and introduced in 1989 by our good friends at Southern Exposure Seed Exchange. Outstanding!

What are the pros? Gorgeous

What are the cons? lots of seeds

Review:

This watermelon was just beautiful. It is the picture perfect watermelon, inside and out. The flesh was bright red, and extended to within less than an inch of the rind. Everyone who saw it was so impressed with how it looked, and the great flavor. I only planted 1 or 2 plants, and I got 2 melons (none of my melon vines produced much, so probably my issue as it was my first year growing melons). I definitely picked them a bit late, because I was waiting for the underside to get yellow, and that never happened. Next time, I will pick them as soon as the tendril closest to the vine turns brown and dry. Even though they were a bit mealy by the time I picked them, they were still juicy and had great sweet flavor. I can't wait to try them again next year now that I know more about when to pick them.

What are the pros? Early germination, strong

What are the cons? None yet

Review:

Out of the 4 watermelon varieties I planted, this was the first to germinate and grew most quickly. Thick vines with vigorous new growth. Out of the 9 melon varieties I planted (5 were honeydew type) this was still the first up. Plants just went outside, but transplanted once again strongest of the bunch. Other reviews say early maturity, but I'm sure the larger melons will take a little longer than my icebox varieties. Either way, very excited, and very pleased with germination rates. A little over 20 seeds in my package with probably 95% germination, don't count this melon out because of the small amount of seeds included. Great for gardeners with a lot of space looking for something easy to grow!

What are the pros? Super Sweet & Early To Ripen

What are the cons? When They're Gone

Review:

This is by far the best watermelon you will ever grow, hands down. The flesh is deep red like in the picture and super sweet. I've never tasted a watermelon so sweet in my entire life. I've grew several different types of watermelon in my day and this variety always wins. It's my all time favorite and will continue to be a staple in my garden every year. Thank you Baker Creek for offering this amazing variety.. i've never had better. PLEASE people give this a try.. you won't regret it.

What are the pros? Easy to grow

What are the cons? Small sized, too many seeds

Review:

I am a long time gardener and I finally decided to grow watermelon rather than cantaloupe this year. I ended up with only two small watermelons, but it may have been because I have so many other things growing around it. The flavor is good, but I didn't really like how "seedy" they were. I think I will try another variety next year, seedless this time or go back to my cantaloupe.
