Our most asked-for flower in our 2008 trial gardens. A few vines covered the arbor over our garden gate. The flowers are so unique and stunning; it's true, double morning glories! They are fully double and uniquely shaped, plus they come in the most lovely shades of ruby-rose. This historic heirloom has long been out of catalogs due to the introduction of modern varieties, but this variety proves that some things can't be improved on!

What are the pros? Flower

What are the cons? No Fragrance

Review:

this little guy grew a good amount in a small basket on my balcony. My buildings reflective so it got a lot of sun and did not burn as long as you kept it watered. This variety does not smell fragrant however its blooms are out of this world. Only down side I'd say is it does not produce as many blooms per flower segment as other varieties. I've found others have as many as 4-6 bloom stocks per segment. This one has 1 sometimes 2. dying flowers are still colorful, not a lot of drop leaf foliage on the lower end of the plant when it grows taller like other morning glory's Pest and disease resident in my region. Grows well in baskets, best in large pots or the ground. Not drought tolerant needs standard watering. Better variety for baskets would be "IPOMOEA NIL X IMPERIALIS" common names are "Cameo Elegannce | Imperial Japanese Morning Glory | Mini-Bar rose" I've regrown from seed last few years true to form, but don't know if it is classified as a heirloom.

Review:

This is a gorgeous morning glory all on it's own. But if you plant it with another color of morning glory--I planted it with dark purple-blue--next year you will get hybrids. Lots of double dark purple-blue morning glories. What shall I try it with next?

Review:

First saw this one growing in Holland on a trial ground 17 years ago, outdoors, and it was stunning then, so snapped it up last year to grow in england. Despite a cool and wet summer, it performed magnficently in a couple of pots, and attracted a bit of attention from knowledgeable gardening friends. It even went on to produce seed, which I didn't expect in this climate. Would recommend this cv highly. Each unique bloom tells its own story.

I found these by chance 3 years ago. They produce wonderful small rose-looking flowers which last for several days. It is a vigorous grower which will spread quickly. I recommend it highly to anyone who enjoys MGs.
