(Mirabilis longiflora) This unique species of Four O'Clock is quite striking with 4½-inch long trumpet like flowers that are creamy white with red centers; but the amazing part is the delightful, exotic fragrance that fills the air as these flowers open each afternoon. Easy to grow and can be left in the ground to regrow each year in warm areas or can be grown as an attractive annual in cold climates. This attractive plant comes from the American Southwest and Mexico.

What are the pros? Tiny stems are so strong.
What are the cons? none
In the late 1990s, these grew in the flower beds of the Hermitage Foundation Museum. They were just about the most romantic thing ever, and I have been looking for them ever since. So elegant, yet the gardener said they grew like weeds.
