Plump, drier-fleshed type is medium creamy-golden skinned with cream-colored flesh. Remains firm and solid even when cooked. A delicious type for curries, stews and perfect as sweet potato fries, an old fashioned favorite that has appeared on the tables of the New Jersey families since 1780. 3 plants. We are super excited to be offering a selection of live plants, these are produced for us by tissue culture, a natural process that produces plants that are generally high-quality and disease free. We have some stunning new food crops in our plant listing, we hope you will try some of the exciting rare plants we offer this year. Pre-order now, as supplies on some these will be limited. The plants we ship are small, but sturdy, and we offer a 30 day guarantee on live plants. Most plants will be 6”-12” in height. Plants will ship as available after the first of April to the end of June. We will ship orders to southern zones first. No guaranteed delivery dates. No orders shipped outside of the USA. No Extra shipping costs, just pay our regular $3.50. (PRE-ORDER PLANTS WILL SHIP AFTER APRIL 1, 2017)

Review:

I finally found the best potato that I've been wanting to grow, a drier sweet flesh. I just dug up today my 3 Jersey Yellow Sweet Potato plants that I bought from this company, Baker Creek! After I dug, I steamed a piece together with my stokes purple sweet potato that I just dug up also today. I couldn't believe that this jersey yellow is super delicious, it is a keeper! If you try this variety you will never regret! Thanks a lot baker creek! Anyway, I have my new You tube channel named "Practical Gardener" and I'm going to upload my video of me (anytime soon) digging my yellow jersey sweet potato and stokes purple sweet potato that I bought the seeds from our local store few years ago.

Review:

First time growing sweet potatoes and I came up with great results. Dozens upon dozens of fingerling size, a good haul of bakers and half a dozen mammoths that will do great for stews, soups and stock. Great flavor. Dig your ground at least a foot deep in the spring and try growing them on a mound so you can try to cover up some of the vines. 1 order of slips was all that was needed for 50 sq ft plot Will definitely order again!

What are the pros? Amazing flavor and texture!

What are the cons? Tricky to grow in North Iowa.

Review:

I've never grown sweet potatoes. I research and write about old recipes and Baker Creek varieties have informed my work. I'm working on the eighteenth century for a project and when I read the informative and specific description in the catalog I hoped these would be just the crop I needed to give me the taste of the time. These sweet potatoes are WONDERFUL! I will never enjoy eating any other kind now that I've been spoiled by this early Federal-era variety. They need heat and water, both a challenge in North Iowa this year. Still got a good crop and have deep-dug the soil in sunniest spot in the garden for next year. Thanks, Baker Creek, for offering them.
