Collected by USDA many years before the present upheavals in Syria, this Middle Eastern heirloom is a classic for the traditional salad called laban bikhyar (sliced cucumber in yoghurt). Due to its tenderness, this prolific bearer is not recommended for pickling. The small blunt-shaped fruits are excellent in salads, the best harvest size: 3 to 4 inches long. Will produce heavily as long as plants are well fertilized. Easy to grow on trellises.
