80 days. Gorgeous little market variety, originally collected in the market at Aleppo, Syria, and furnished by our Syrian friend, Ragad Khorani. Striped fruits are purple and cream to green, reaching about 5 inches in length by 2-3 inches wide. Ragad says: “The flesh is very firm and creamy. It is the best when it is... cooked with butter or olive oil.” We are very excited to offer this choice variety from a troubled land.

What are the pros? Delicious, great texture

What are the cons? Slow growth in open garden

Review:

I grew this last year in the garden and it was late to flower. I only got 1 eggplant before frost, but with just that one taste I knew I had to give it another try. This year I grew in containers and have had great productivity even with a very cool summer. Great saut?ed as mentioned in catalog and holds up well in lots of eggplant dishes. Looking forward to trying a Syrian recipe as soon as I get a ripe tomato to go with it. May all the Syrian people displaced from their homes and gardens be able to return soon in peace.

What are the pros? Easy to grow

What are the cons? Squirrels love the colors

Review:

These grew better in the fall with lower humidity and cooler nights. The plant and the flowers were gorgeous all summer long. Next season, I might get these in the ground earlier. Darn squirrels took bites nearly out of most mine. These might need to be staked down. Mine kept falling over with the fruits on them. No pest concerns, just squirrels. Need full sunlight! These were impressive to my friends and delicious to eat.
