What are the cons?
I grew these in a tractor tire in the yard and the did better and got a lot bigger than the alaska mix. I planted them from seed very close together and the spilled over and were beautiful! Everyone complimented. Also I did not fertilize them and rarely watered them.

I threw in a few of these seeds around the garden and in the veggie patch, especially where I knew it would otherwise be bare for the season (we have lots of new beds). By the end of summer they had spread all over the bare patches (and beyond) and looked absolutely gorgeous. They covered a vast amount of bare ground with masses of bright colorful flowers atop 12-14" inch foliage. I didn't fertilize them so I had many flowers and the leaves were kept to a reasonable size. I love how lush they look and really don't need all that much water. They lasted well into the first real frost. Oh, and this may sound terrible, but they are also a great sacrificial plant for aphids - who seem to prefer them over my roses. I plant a few extra near my roses for this purpose alone. These are one of my all time favorite garden annuals.
