60 days. Smooth, straight, dark-green fruit, 18” long. Flesh is very crisp, tender and mild; superb flavor. Very few seeds, vigorous high-yielding vines, great for greenhouse production; also good cultured outdoors. This is an excellent English heirloom variety, introduced around 1897.

What are the pros? Easy to grow, productive

What are the cons? attracts squash beetles

Review:

In the past several years, I have not had success with cucumbers. This variety is a pleasant change. I have a square foot raised garden, and planted 3 plants each in 2 square feet. The plants trellis wonderfully, and I've already harvested about a dozen 12-18" cukes. The flavor is mild and perfect for snacking, with thin skins and a small amount of seeds. Even now, there are lots of baby cukes in the making, at the end of July. I have noticed several squash beetles and larvae on the leaves, but just destroy them upon discovery. Will be planting this variety again next year.

Review:

I grew out five varieties this year, these among them. It does produce a nice looking, smooth, straight, cucumber. Taste is good.Production so far has been lower than expected. It's being more crowded than I care for this year, but several of my other cucumber types in similar conditions seem to be producing just fine. However, if you don't care of the cucumber is straight or smooth, I'd recommend the Japanese Long over the Telegraph. The Japanese Long taste better, produces far better, and is bigger.

This did well in my shaded raised bed garden and resisted the powdery mildew that got my squash and other cucumber variety. Flavor was great, seeds small and texture crisp. I will grow this one again this year.

Review:

This cucumber did well in my rather shaded garden. It held up and produced pretty good in spite of rampant powdery mildew. My squash and other cucumber variety did not do well because of the mildew but this one seemed fine, though did have a mild case. The cucumbers tasted great, nice and crispy with thin skin and not a lot of seeds. I will be growing this one again!

Review:

Such a great cucumber. The plants were strong and stayed green into the fall. Was the last to get powdery mildew in my garden. The cucs themselves taste amazing, sweet and dense with almost no seeds. They grow long and quickly. Will be growing lots next year.
