What are the pros? flavor, firmness, uniformity
What are the cons? none
I'm going to stick with this cucumber from now on. The flavor and size were consistent all summer long. And it's true: no bitterness at all. In June, I planted 1 seed per square foot. They germinated and began to set fruit very quickly since the air and ground were very warm, and they didn't seem to mind the eventual crowding. I staked them on cheapy tomato cages (a mistake- they would like to go MUCH higher. Next year- bamboo poles)and they were producing store-bought-size cukes right and left. Also, the skin was pretty tender. Next to them, I grew a different heirloom variety that I bought at Lowe's, and it performed very poorly under the same conditions. I think the good results I got were because of not planting too early, planting in raised beds with home made compost, watering every 2 or 3 days, and the inherent strength of the variety.
