This peanut was discovered by Baker Creek Seeds founders Jere and Emilee Gettle while on a seed exploration in Thailand. The huge shells, when opened, reveal huge peanuts having a stunning magenta marbling against a pale skin. Yield was strong in our trials here in Southern Missouri with many plants having 30 or more pods. Very limited supply. 1 oz packet contains about 20 to 25 seeds.
Plant peanuts in fertile soil about 1 inch deep after danger of frost has passed in spring. Keep free of weeds but do not mulch - mulch will prevent the flower peg, where the peanut develops, from penetrating the soil. Dig peanuts in about 120 to 140 days when foliage begins to yellow at the end of the growing season.

What are the pros? Easy to grow.
What are the cons? None!
I started growing these plants in a pot in the basement, under lights, in the middle of March. They are now outside in the full sun and are growing steadily. It will be fun to see how they grow throughout the season. These are easy plants to grow, very much like bean plants and would no doubt be great to grow with kids!
