Seasoning peppers are a mild peppers sometimes used in the Caribbean. These peppers have all the fruity taste of habaneros but with very little heat. They are thus used in recipes where the flavor of the pepper is to be emphasized. This variety throws lantern-shaped fruits ripening through yellow to red. Discard the seeds in preparation and you can add them with impunity to your favorite Caribbean-style recipes. Robust plants are very productive

Review:

This is one of the most interesting peppers I have ever grown. It is an extremely thin-walled pepper that, I think, is pretty useless for fresh eating. So, I dried them in my dehydrator; ground them into powder, and...wow! These peppers make a piquant, earthy and highly flavorful seasoning powder that you cannot buy anywhere. I don't like high heat so I seeded and de-veined the peppers before drying. This resulted in a highly flavorful powder with a barely-perceptible heat. I am currently fermenting a batch of these peppers which will eventually become a very mild hot sauce. Next year, I'm going to plant 10-15 of these plants because I want lots of seasoning powder! My plants grew to 3.5 feet and roughly 2.5 - 3 feet round. Plants are vigorous and disease-free. Very prolific. Pick peppers after they turn deep red because the immature fruits are flavorless.

Review:

Wonderful earthy, almost smoky flavor and scent. These are like habaneros without the heat. We have been loving these in our salads and fresh pico de gallo. I did have a hornworm eat part of one plant, (I have never had them eat peppers before), but the plants have done well in the ground and in pots.
