(Allium fistulosum) An old favorite Japanese bunching type, looks like a long slender leek. Sweet and mild flavor, tasty.

What are the cons?
Planted them in a large container indoors back in March. Moved them to a raised bed around the end of April here in Northern Illinois. They struggled a bit and didn't seem to do much. The incredible heat and drought gave me scallions that looked like chives. I figured they were lost and wrote them off. Then, after total neglect, they came back around the end of August. They grew into tall (18-12 inches) strong, beautiful looking scallions. They tasted great too. Definitely a survivor and worth planting again.
