60 days. An heirloom lettuce that dates to the 1850's. It makes small cabbage-like green heads, only 3-4" across. Very tasty, a winner for classy markets!

What are the pros? color, heat-tolerance

What are the cons? none

Review:

This is a lovely little lettuce that is among the varieties I'm trying to grow from seed, having never grown lettuce from seed before. It has been thriving in a container, despite some excessively hot temps and a cool start to summer, and I haven't had to do much to nurture it. Of all the varieties I started late (mid-June) it is doing the best after 7 weeks, and has the thickest, crunchiest leaves that are a solid spring-green color. I get quite a kick out of getting these entire cute little heads each from one tiny seed!

What are the pros? compact, tastes great

What are the cons? hard to clean

Review:

Love this beautiful little lettuce. It's grown well for two years now, is fairly fast growing and slow to bolt. It has wonderfully crisp and tender mild leaves. I would say the only con is it takes a little more time to clean because dirt gets trapped in the ripples of the leaves. I pick the whole head with root and they last up to a month in the frig.

Perfect, tasty heads. Fast growing. Good planted in between rows of slower crops.

Review:

We have grown this lettuce the last couple years and really love it. It has nice flavor and it's easy to grow. The miniature heads of lettuce are so cute too! Hopefully it won't be "out of stock" for long because I'd like to grow it again soon!

Review:

I love this lettuce! The size of the heads is perfect for dinner for two and it is so crunchy and sweet! This variety lasted the longest before bolting when compared to the four other varieties I grew this year. You can harvest the outer leaves little by little or harvest the whole head when mature. This is the one variety from this season that I will make sure to plant from now on. Yum!
