Toothache Plant

(Spilanthes acmella) Pretty yellow and red cone-shaped flowers and leaves have properties similar to Echinacea; said to enhance the immune system, improve digestion and help nausea. The name toothache plant comes from the numbing properties it produces when the leaves and flowers are chewed, and it is used by many herbalists for this purpose. It is a tender perennial but can be grown as an annual in most areas.

What are the pros? easing my toothache

What are the cons? none

Review:

This pretty plant is well behaved, easy to grow and even has nice leaves. Good as an ornamental. I happen to be getting a toothache, so this was my chance to try it out. It's actually taking the edge off the pain. May be placebo effect, but it is helping.

What are the cons? Nothing.

Review:

This was a neat plant to grow. It's not the prettiest but it's cool. Germinates easy, just toss on top of the soil, wet it, keep warm, and it does the rest.

What are the cons? to early to tell

Review:

It may be a little early to do a review, but I started a geodesic dome greenhouse and somethings have come up well and others have not. I planted quite a few different varieties of plants and don't remember for sure how many seeds i put in each grow pot. It seems to have took a longer time to germinate but we have had a very cool spring and so has everything else. but once the toothache plant came up it seems to have germinated around 4 separate plants per pot. I transplanted a few today into soil and they seem to be a hardy plant so I am sure they will do well. I hope to remember to add a review this fall when the outside season is finished!
