"Green Cutting Chard" Very thin stems support large leaves of unusual substance. Outstandingly sweet and tender variety. Excellent for "cut and come again" style harvesting. One of the best-tasting chards. A delightful, traditional Italian variety.

What are the pros? Verdent, tender leaves

What are the cons? none

Review:

Grows a long time, and grows like grass (cut it back and it grows again). Used in smoothies everyday, mild tasting and nice to look at in the garden.

What are the pros? Thin stems

What are the cons? Bolted sooner than expected

Review:

I planted this variety and giant fordhook in the fall and it overwintered well. Both were very good and easy to grow. I liked the thinner stems of this variety but it bolted quickly. I'll plant it again.

What are the pros? doesn't quit

What are the cons? no dislikes

Review:

This chard just keeps going and going and going. The leaves are smooth and tender. The leaves remain tender even with heat and large leaves are still tender. I planted this chard in a location that I didn't expect it to do as well as it did but with a top dressing of compost every month or so, it has continued to produce for nearly a year here in San Diego. I even tried to thin it out a bit and it just kept going and going and going. Great raw with other greens and/or lettuces, great in smoothies, and great cooked alone or with a few bitter greens. A great green to keep in the garden!

What are the pros? flavor, tolerates heat

What are the cons? none

Review:

I have planted this chard for two years and never tire of it. It takes the heat, stays green all winter and the flavor is not adversely affected. Cut of a batch to eat and it just keeps producing!

We grew this and the rainbow chard this past year and loved them both. They were both just plain delicious and lovely!
