What are the pros? Grows easy. Likes to climb.
What are the cons? Dies at 35-40 degrees.
People who say these are too bitter have let them stay on the vine too long. Pick at about 2 inches. If skin is too tough for butter knife to penetrate skin, it is over ripe and should just be used for seeds. You just pop these in your mouth, spikes and all. No need to peeling! Excellent for pickling. Very sweet and refreshing. Spikes on vines and cucumbers keep mammals and birds away. Very disease resistant. Like, if you see leaves with white mold, just pick them off before mold spreads and the vine/veggie should be fine. They grow on a trellis very well. Had cold snap in 2014 January (in zone 9b, 35-40 degrees) and it killed the vine. Loves sun. Don't over water because it draws white mold. Takes a little while to get started, but then climbs like crazy.
