Bush, 80 days. An old heirloom that produces slender seeds that are about 1/3 “ long. They are great in rice dishes and casseroles, as they cook fast and have a delicious, rich taste.

What are the pros? good for small space

What are the cons? none

Review:

I wanted a fast-cooking dry bean to mix with rice and soups, and this is it.I threw a few seeds in a short 'leftover' row 2 years ago, had about 80% germination, fertilized with fish emulsion 2ce, and got a great yield. Some pods will be dry and ready while others are still green, plants even still flowering.I planted more last year and they yielded well in a season that started late from brutal winter, flooded until July, and then became baking-hot drought (typical Ohio summer). Notable that they geminated before rotting in damp clay soil, these and Dixie Speckled Butterpeas were the workhorses among 6 bean varieties we planted.easy to shell when dry

What are the pros? Unfortunately none

What are the cons? Germination, production

Review:

It pains me to give such a bad review as I was really hoping for a great little bean. It just doesn't do well in my area no matter the soil, location, or sun. Out of 40 planted I only had 11 germinate. :( In addition to poor germination the production was very poor. I spoke with a friend in the same area (zone 9) and she had the same results. I really wanted to love this bean, but will be on the lookout for the perfect dry bean.

What are the pros? easy to grow, very productive

What are the cons? none

Review:

I used these for green snaps and as pickling beans. They produced like crazy in my raised beds and I saved seeds to grow out this season. I didn't have much problem with them until the bean beetles arrived and destroyed every bean plant I had.

What are the pros? easy to grow and use

What are the cons? nothing

Review:

I have grown these for two years now. They are very easy to grow and I haven't had any problems with them. I grow them to use as dry beans in casseroles and soups and we really enjoy them. They are a nice small mild bean.
