What are the pros? You can do this!

What are the cons? Don't know yet

Review:

Hello Nice People, This is my favorite part of this website. Where I can read the reviews of real gardeners like me and I learn a lot! Today I get to contribute. I read the previous reviews about getting these strawberry seeds to germinate and I have a suggestion for you that works terribly well for me whenever I try to germinate tiny little seeds. I ordered and received these seeds back in January and I sprinkled them liberally over a flat in late February in my greenhouse. I covered the flat loosely in plastic wrap to keep in the moisture. Don't make it too tight because all seeds and dirt still need to breath oxygen. I misted them daily and within about 2 weeks I believe I probably got 95-100% germination. It is June and they are growing like gangbusters. Will I get a ton of strawberries this year or will I have to wait for next year. Hard to say. But..... happy gardening everyone!

What are the pros? Great taste

What are the cons? Slow germination

Review:

I started these is January 2015. I planted the plants in both containers and in a raised bed and the seem to do better in the raised bed. On to the fruit I did get a small batch last summer, which was impressive. This year however, WOW, I am getting so much more and the fruit is much bigger. The taste is amazing kind of tropical, cross between strawberry pineapple or guava, or papaya. The fruit smells good too. The seeds do take a long time to germinate, that is the only reason for 4 stars. But worth it, if you are thinking of trying alpine strawberries try these. Best thing critters don't bother them.

What are the pros? Delicious

What are the cons? Nothing

Review:

I'm back to say that these strawberries are delicious. No problems with wildlife discovering them either. We actually prefer the flavor of these over traditional red strawberries. They are the cutest little bushes and I've used them to line our rock wall. In our climate they stay green all year. Would highly, highly recommend!

What are the pros? different, fruit first year

What are the cons? musky taste

Review:

These were as easy to grow as other alpines I've tried, so as an ornamental, they're fine. But I won't be expanding the bed since I like the flavor of the red varieties much better. These are definitely pineapple-y, as advertised but there is a slight musky overtone I don't care for.

What are the pros? Delicious berries

What are the cons? Slower

Review:

I grew both White Soul and Yellow Wonder over the late winter/early spring in my unheated green house. I found the White Soul didn't germinate as well, and were slower to grow. Only about 25% of the seeds came to be adult plants. (See my review of YW to see my tips) But! They are still quite worthy of being grown. The plants are tiny, putting on little berries, even more delicate than YW. This was a worthy endeavor, and the picking has been quite fun.
