We offer a select strain of "Witloof" or Belgian endive. This chicory is planted in the garden in spring, then dug and forced to grow in a cool, dark place, to make the delicious "Chicon heads" that command high prices at market. Very Tasty.

What are the pros? Keeps growing

What are the cons? Can go to seed prematurely

Review:

I planted this in late June in a seed bed, then transplanted the plants into a garden bed about 1 every 10". It grew well, but the groundhogs liked it and kept eating it down. After the groundhogs went to hog heaven, it grew back and now looks good (October 2014). Unfortunately about 5% of the plants started a seed head, which I broke off. I will try to post back after I force these in winter for chicons - the small Belgian endive heads that are grown indoors in winter.
