Yarrow - Cerise Queen

Perennial--Brilliant pink flowers, borne in typical yarrow fashion: hundreds of tiny blooms, in flat clusters, are produced non stop until late autumn. Same carefree ways as white yarrow, and the same foot-tall plants with fern-like foliage, but the color really makes an impression!

What are the pros? Easy 2 grow, little maintenence

What are the cons? Wish I found years ago

Review:

Amazing. I absolutely love the way this plant adds color to my corner garden. The color is intense, almost more like magenta than pink. I have a patch of yellow coreopsis (which i planted in my zone 5b garea 20 years ago and it srill returns yearly) and the coreopsis has flowers about the same height and size as this yarrow. Despite the odd color combination (yellow ?? and deep pink??) I absolutely love them together. Everyone who walks past comments on how pretty they are. A real butterfly attractor which is another plus.

What are the pros? nice ferny foliage

What are the cons? extremely invasive roots.

Review:

Besides being extremely invasive, the color was NOT the pretty cerise color in the pictures. It is a pale washed out pink, sometimes white. It took me a couple of years to get it all out of the garden. I saved some of it, and planted it in bare spots in my lawn. The grass keeps it from being a horrible weed.

What are the pros? none

What are the cons? extremely invasive roots!

Review:

This was not like any yarrow I had grown before. it was extremely wide-spreading, with deep, invasive roots. It was supposed to be a ground covering yarrow, but I never dreamed it would be so hard to get rid of. It was partly my fault, because I started it in my veggie garden, and was supposed to transplant it to a bare spot. I didn't do it right away, waited 2 years. In the second year the plant just took over the 4 ft. square, and was starting to invade the neighboring squares!
