What are the pros? Beautiful and tall
What are the cons? some don't produce ears in NA
I did have moderate success growing the purple Peruvian corn, used in desserts, in Maryland. Stayed short and got about 6 ears. Have tried the big puffy white corn from Ecuador twice and it just doesn't understand our day lengths. Gets huge, finally tassels, and might produce one ear out of 20 plants. A man from Mexico told me he got his to grow by saving what tiny miserable ears matured on 14 foot confused corn for about 5 years, by which time the corn adapted. It's cool stuff and I love me some choclos, but be aware.
