Great Onion in Denver Area
Easy to Grow 4.5
EarlyMaturity 5.0

What are the pros? easy 2 grow, large, juicy

What are the cons? nothing. I was impressed

I planted these last year in February. I put a thin layer of sterile potting soil in a couple of used and cleaned plastic trays leftover from some sort of food purchase. Can't remember what, but they were just flat, cheap plastic produce containers that had holes in the bottom. Anyway, I planted the onion seed in close rows on the soil...not really spaced carefully, but I did my best to not put too many all bunched up anywhere. I put a thin layer of vermiculite over the top...very thin. Basically enough to sort of help hold the seedlings in place until they got bigger. I bottom watered using a seed starting tray that I placed the produce trays into. I covered with a clear lid/dome. Anyway, I just left them alone and kept them bottom watered (not soggy) and put the grow lights on them. I transplanted them once they had three blades keeping the top of the 'bulb' at or just above soil level. Mulched thick with straw. Great flavor and have kept well for several months thus far.
