What are the pros? Very productive, large plants
What are the cons? cant think of any
I've tried many peppers since i began seed starting only heirloom varieties from Baker Creek. Most of the peppers I up grew were too hot, and I couldn't find a truly productive sweet pepper. Looking for new varieties, I saw these and I was sold on their description as Eastern European peppers grown for roasting, and how they are known for being sturdy and productive. The seedlings went in late because of a cold spring, but by late July the plants were huge, and loaded with set fruit. It took until late August to start getting the red ripened fruits I was waiting for. I had problems overall with all of my peppers, notably seed rot and many rotting before harvest, but I believe this was from under watering, overcrowding and inconsistent organic pest control. Bottom line is on just two plants, they yielded over 15 peppers in great shape, and as many lost due to the problems I mentioned. Oven roasted and peeled, they have an amazing rich and buttery taste... Next year I'm planting four!
