50-60 days. Very early; great for short season areas; good yields of delicious soup peas. An heirloom from 1880.

What are the pros? Grew quickly.

What are the cons? Poor production

Review:

I bought these Alaskan peas thinking that with the heat of the south, early maturity might be a good thing. These peas did not do well for me. It may be that it got quite hot quickly this late spring. I don't know. The pods were quite small, which is fine. But after the first picking, the plants were done. They may do very well in cooler weather.

What are the pros? early maturity

What are the cons? produces basically nothing

Review:

I live in Western Washington (the Eastside), and I thought Alaska is the best thing for us here - mild spring, short growing season, very similar to Alaska. I have tried this variety for 5 years now - and I said: no more. Every time - for 5 years now - the pods have grown very small, to hold 2-3 kernels. Their season is very short - like a week after they start fruiting. Half the bloom does not bear fruit at all. Those that do bear fruit - the pods hold 2-3 seeds in them. Very frustrating, taking up a lot of my garden spaces, and produce basically nothing. I kept think I planted them at the wrong time, or the wrong place in the garden, etc. Experimented with them for 5 years. It was a disappointment every year. For me here, the "Telephone Pole" has been a reliable performer. This is all I am planting from now on.

What are the pros? Easy to Sprout; Great Yield

What are the cons? none

Review:

This was a great variety for my toddler to help plant, water, and eat off the vine. We only planted a handful of seeds but the yield was incredible. I really wish we would have done a full row. They vine up rather effortlessly so a small support trellis was all we used. The peas taste great and are larger than other varieties we have grown in the past. We planted in April indoors, transferred them in May and just pulled up the plants the first week of July. It is too hot in this area and they did begin to brown, but that was to be expected. We will grow these every year.

Planted October 2014, early frost killed pods- was a beautiful thriving plant! Trying again now (March 2015).

What are the pros? Fast, Good Yields

What are the cons? Too easy

Review:

Great Pea! I grew this in the fall of 2013 and was moderately impressed by it. I planted them again this spring and my yields have been excellent. I'm very glad I gave this pea a second chance. Very fast an prolific.
