What are the pros? Vines were strong and healthy

What are the cons? No fruit

Review:

Working on optimism alone I planted two varieties of watermelons this summer, including Ali Baba. Summers near the SF Bay seldom get temperatures above mid-70's, and this summer was especially cool. While sun is abundant, the redwoods nearby throw long hours of shade over every part of the garden. The vines grew, but the fruit never got larger than a cherry tomato. I'm sending the remaining seeds to family in Colorado, who have the kind of consistent summer warmth that the successful growers of this melon enjoy.

Review:

The only area I had available to grow the vines is along the pool deck. The area, which is quite large and is covered in landscape rocks, turned out to be a great spot. I pushed rocks aside, punched holes in the landscape cloth and planted the seeds. In just days the plants emerged and quickly grew covering the rocks. We had a hot summer and some days reaching 100F. The vines never wilted in the heat and the rocks kept the melons hot. Not sure if the melons growing on the rocks had anything to do with it, but none of the melons developed a pale spot on the underside. I used the tendril and spoon method to determine ripeness. I harvested the first one today (09/09/18) and it was perfect. Oblong with a slight curve and about 15lbs. The melon had great texture, red color, sweet and extremely juicy. There is a sense of accomplishment growing your own watermelon for sure, but the knowledge of eating a fruit that is grown 100% with no fertilizer or pesticide is priceless. Growing again.

What are the pros? EVERYTHING !!!!

What are the cons? NOTHING !!!

Review:

this is our first year growing this watermelon and I guarantee not my last !! Was afraid the melon would be very weak in flavor since we have had so much rain during it's growing season it seems to make melons not as sweet and lack flavor...well..this is the juiciest and sweetest watermelon I have ever grown. We picked the first one today and it weighed 33 Lbs. !! We have at least a dozen more out in the garden. Was afraid of rotting in the garden since it has rained so much but they have held up very well. I hope they keep on the vine a while because I don't think I can eat this much melon at one time..lol..especially since I am diabetic !! I will tell you that you need a lot of garden space for this melon but well worth it if you love your watermelons!!! Don't think twice about ordering this seed!!!

Review:

This is a wonderful watermelon! Even as we have had to water through this summer's drought, it has done well. We harvested our first fruit yesterday, 67 days after planting the seeds. It was a 17 pound, sweet, and juicy treat. I highly recommend this seed. Now we just need to figure out how to preserve a few as we have 21 currently growing in the garden. :)
