What are the pros? Great flavor, excellent size

What are the cons? None

Review:

This was the best watermelon of a trial this year. We did Ali Baba, Mississippi Cobb Gem, Katanya, Desert King, and Ice Cream. Ali Baba was hands down the winner. It was the heaviest watermelon from the trial, the best tasting, the best ripening. Mississippi Cobb Gem put out more fruits, but none with the same quality. An interesting note was the fruit shapes can vary significantly. Some were oval, some were very oblong. Incredible melon!

What are the pros? Large, Productive, sweet

What are the cons? what is not to like

Review:

we have grown this melon for a few years now. when we have a good melon year these really produce. we get nothing less than 20 pounds and most melons are over 40 pounds. our heaviest this year was 47.8 pounds. took me 2 days to eat that sucker. i did eat a 42 pound watermelon in one day though. love the clean energy. the melons do well for us. they have larger seeds. i just chew up the seeds when eating the melon. love the color of the outside of the melon. the flavor is good and simple. we have other watermelons with more intricate flavor but these are good. we will keep planting them. note, we grow in thick leaf mulch and wood chip mix. gives more flavor and size. we only watered by sprinkler this year. stopped watering late fall. it is october 24 2017 and just picked our last Ali Baba watermelon. it weighed 42 pounds. touch over ripe but still good watery sweet texture. the middle seems to get mealy when over ripe but still quite edible.

What are the pros? Productive, crisp and jiucy

What are the cons? None

Review:

Most productive producer of 20 - 30 pound melons that I have grown although this year has seen record heat for our area which may be the reason for the better than usual melon crop. That being said Crimson sweet and Dixie queen weren' t as productive grown side by side.

What are the pros? Excellent flavor, crisp

What are the cons? Root-knot nematode likes it

Review:

I've never met a watermelon that could compare to Ali-Baba for me. The sweet flavor and crisp texture just can't be beat! Where some melons become soggy around the seeds, Ali-Baba does not. They grow really well in my sandy soil and I've grown them for 5 consecutive years now. I have to plant soon after last frost because when it gets really warm in the summer, root-knot nematodes will kill the vines on these so I plant early to try to harvest as many as I can! These vines go everywhere, but even if I was limited on my space, I would still grow this variety. Taste just can't be beat.

What are the pros? Size, heat tolerant,

What are the cons? Fruit takes long to mature

Review:

Aruba has a hot semi-arid climate. I planted the Ali Baba watermelon in a compost made with horse manure beginning of this year 2017 and it is growing really well, harvested up to now 4 watermelons three 20lbs and one 25 lbs, with more on the vine.
