What are the pros? good for rocky, hot areas
What are the cons? wish they were taller!
I tossed some of these seeds into my most troublesome spot, a very hot, dry, rocky area with scorching southern exposure. Nothing much grows there in the summer except for wild California poppies. These guys seemed to like the difficult conditions, and have been putting on a cheerful display of salmon-colored flowers for a few weeks now, with no watering (they are getting some dew in the morning, but that's it.) I do wish they were a bit taller--they're only about 3" tall, but next year I will plant them more intentionally in my "wildflower zone," where it's hot and rocky, and give them a bit more water to see if that helps them reach their full potential. I don't know why I only got salmon-colored blooms this year--hoping for a range of colors next year.
