Aronia melancarpa) ZONES 3-8 Viking is a beautiful small shrub with a very flavorful fruit when used in juices, jams, and wines. Aronia is high in flavonoid/antioxidants, as well as high in vitamins and minerals. The fall red foliage is incredibly striking. Aronia is a staple in Eastern Europe backyard gardens and has great potential in the US. We offer 2 small plants that have been propagated through tissue culture, a simple way to make small cuttings disease free.

Please consider these terms before ordering live plants:
Most plants will be 3”-7” in height. Plants will ship as available after the first of March to the end of
May. We will try to ship orders to southern zones first. No guaranteed exact delivery dates. Plants may
arrive too early and have to be kept inside until the weather warms. Plants may arrive late, as well.
Due to the sensitive nature of small plants, there is the possibility of a crop failure. If such a situation
occurs, we will do our best to issue you a refund in a timely manner. Last minute losses can occur at
any point in our shipping timeline, and we may have to issue a refund even late in the season. No

orders shipped outside of the USA. No Extra shipping costs; you just pay our regular $3.50. (PRE-ORDER PLANTS WILL SHIP AFTER March 1, 2018)

What are the pros? grows very fast, easy-care

What are the cons? none

Review:

I'm from Eastern Europe and Aronia Viking is a very common plant to have in your backyard. It always fascinated me how much fruit such a small bush can produce during one season. The fruit is very tasty and extremely healthy in antioxidants. I ordered the plant this year in summer. It was only 6" tall when it arrived, but since I planted it, it has been growing extremely fast. It already looks like a small bush with many new branches, about 20" tall. Aronia is also very low maintenance. I had lots of trouble with insects that destroyed big part of my garden this year, but Aronia stood proudly and resisted. The leaves are now turning into a beautiful red colour.

What are the pros? Easy to care for

What are the cons? Slow Growing

Review:

These have been living in large pots since they arrived. On day one of transplanting, the leaves immediately changed to a strange purply red color, which had me worried, especially since they hardly grew at all in the first year. Year two, still not much height, but they seem to be thriving (many new branches and leaves. Still no fruit, but am hopeful for next year, when they will take permanent residence in the ground.

Review:

I got a pair of aronia plants with my cranberry plant order and (I admit it) promptly forgot about them. I stuck them in an out-of-the-way spot that got mostly afternoon sun and didn't notice them again until I was putting down fall mulch. They are still in the same spot, in awful soil (a former driveway) and with constant competition from larger plants. They don't seem to mind. This last winter, wind chills hit 40 below. The plants are already starting to bud. They've only grown a few inches in the two-ish years I've had them, but you can't beat their durability. Can't wait to finally get some fruit!
