What are the pros? beautiful foliage

What are the cons? not very hardy

I've tried this eggplant two years in a row with no luck. It comes as a surprise to me, since I successfully grow 6 or more varieties of eggplant every year, ranging from Thai to Italian to Japanese types. The aswad seedlings don't seem to have the same vigor as the others. I lose about 2/3 of the young plants even before setting them in the ground. The ones that do go in the ground get hit pretty hard by insects. Their leaves will be eaten down to nothing while the other varieties are practically untouched. The ones that survive the insects do come back, but I still have yet to harvest a single fruit. To be fair, we did have some weather issues in the last two years, ranging from cold to heat. But every other variety of eggplant I planted came back and produced wonderful crops. I'm going to give the aswad one more try next year, but if that doesn't work, I'll move on to something else.
