85 days. One of the largest green beefsteaks. Can grow to over 1 pound and are just delicious. They have brilliant, neon-green flesh with a strong, sweet, and fruity flavor, much tastier than most red tomatoes. This family heirloom from Germany is beautiful. The winner of the 2003 Heirloom Garden Show’s taste test.

What are the pros? Great flavor

What are the cons? none

Review:

We love this tomato. We trialed it for the first time on our farm this year and love the results. Our Aunt Ruby plants are about 8 feet tall and extremely productive. Customers at our weekend farmstand love them and we think it probably gets the highest marks for taste. We will definitely plant them again and greatly increase the space we devote to them. These plants have had no problems with disease for us. We would describe the taste as somewhat fruity and creamy, for lack of a better word. Great great tomato. In terms of maturity, these are a mid-season tomato for us. They don't mature as early as some of our other varieties, but are still ahead of other large size tomatoes like Brandywines.

What are the pros? The coulor

What are the cons? Nothing

Review:

I have been hesitant about green sour tomatoes. But now I have changed my mind. Aunt Ruby is a real darling. If you greet them green then you burn it. Maturing it over to yellow with a little pink stripes, it tastes wonderful. Absout one of my 2 favorites - (the other is Piennolo).

What are the pros? Wonderful intense flavor

What are the cons? None

Review:

This was the first full-sized green when ripe tomato that I ever grew. I had previously grown the "Green Grape" cherry tomato which is pretty special. This tomato has ever better flavor than that one. Cannot fault this variety.

What are the pros? Flavor

What are the cons? Yield

Review:

The yields aren’t great. There was some disease. But this is easily the best tasting tomato I’ve ever had. We planted 18 Baker Creek heirloom varieties last year and this was so delicious—best of the bunch. The best producer we had was a Chadwick Cherry (grew 7’ tall and 5’ wide and was still yielding in February. The German Green gave us maybe 3-4 large tomatoes. But man they were delicious! We’re planting 6 German Green this year instead

What are the pros? Delicious flavor, big & sweet

What are the cons? None

Review:

My friend gave me this plant, and I didn't expect much because I don't like unripe green tomatoes. I was really surprised at how delicious these were. Green doesn't mean bland here! I planted about 15 varieties, and this one was my top favorite. Wait to pick them until the bottom becomes yellow with pink flecks. I made some beautiful multicolored tomato pies.
