Mountain Balm, Balangu, (Lallemantia royleana)
This is a very interesting ethnobotanically relevant herb that is found in the mountains of Central Asia from Iran to the Cuacuses to Turkmenistan. The seeds have been collected and used in making drinks that are very similar to Chia drinks, because the seed coats swell and have a mucilaginous coating. The plant is very quick to grow and flower and has also been studied for its medicinal antiseptic properties.
It is a unique addition to a herbalist’s collection and for any curious herb collectors! Rare!
