What are the pros? Easy to grow, beautiful

What are the cons? none

Review:

I am so glad that I grew this Lemon Bee Balm! It's beautiful, required no extra effort, behaved itself and made my honeybees SO happy. It did come up and mature a little later than I anticipated but that turned into a blessing. In the dead heat of the summer the honeybees and bumble bees were thrilled to have a welcoming plant to visit.

What are the pros? GORGEOUS and good smelling

What are the cons? late to come up?

Review:

I planted a variety of things from seed this year, and most everything had come up and was blooming when this creepy little fellow emerged. I almost pulled it up, but I noticed that there were a few more like it in a pattern more like a row, so I let it grow. The taller it grew, the more beautiful it became, and I thought I had planted some kind of green flower, because I WOULD NOT for the life of me remember what I'd planted in that space! Once the flower began turning purple, I was just FLOORED. I ran back through all of my empty packages and finally found one with a picture that matched--so I HAD planted it on purpose! Even better--there were still some more seeds in it for NEXT year! It was a late and slow bloomer, but it has been a lovely delayed treat for the bees as some of the earlier blooms have begun falling back. I am hoping to have enough of them to add to my tea cabinet this fall, and will definitely be planting this one for the forseeable future.

What are the pros? Unique flowers, edible

What are the cons? none

Review:

A pretty plant with unique looking flowers. The flowers add color to raw salads, the leaves add zing. The entire plant is edible and boasts medicinal qualities.

What are the pros? Beautiful and fragrant

What are the cons? pokey when dying back

Review:

This flower is beautiful, fragrant, and SO easy to grow. It was on the south side in full sun and endured the heat of our hot summer. It is a must have now that we moved to another house (only 20 miles away). The only drawback is they are poky when they die back and I was trying to harvest seeds.

What are the pros? tall, profuse blooms

What are the cons? none

Review:

I have been growing this variety from Baker Creek for the last three years in my garden, I come back for more every year! I start my seeds indoors in late march/early april and always get tons of blooms the first year. I have not yet tried to overwinter them here in central Maine. I have planted them in loamy soil as well as hard clay soil and they seem to do great anywhere in full sun. The plants are sturdy, tons of blooms per plant, and pollinators LOVE them. They make really nice dried flowers as well and smell amazing!!
