75 days. Unique, black-colored fruit that is the shape of a Jalapeno. It is mildly hot and have a delicious flavor. The tall plants have beautiful purple flowers that make this variety very ornamental. Rare and colorful!

What are the pros? Very prolific, beautiful

What are the cons? thought they'd be hotter

Review:

This was my first year trying to grow peppers and out of maybe 4 or 5 varieties these were the only ones that produced for me and in large amounts from early July to mid-October. The black and red peppers were beautiful! We didn't think these were very spicy which worked out for me this year but we did notice that closer to the stem, the spicier it got. I gave a lot away to neighbors this year but will be trying to make salsa and freezing some next year.

What are the pros? simple, hardy, beautiful

What are the cons? too easy?

Review:

These poor guys got decimated multiple times by hornworms while I was away, they bounced back every time. I had peppers most everyday. They are beautiful. Not hot, though occasionally one would surprise me.

What are the cons? Skin scars if left too long

Second year have grown these in a polytunnel although would grow outdoors if a hot summer. Medium heat and have just harvested and now in freezer whole with a few left out add to a chutney that will be making tomorrow

What are the pros? The colors and flavor

What are the cons? not easy seed starting

Review:

In the past Black Hungarian pepper seeds seemed difficult for me to germinate. But, this year both saved and new seeds shot right up and grew well under lights, surviving potting-up and transplanting into the garden. An early attack of horn worms didn't do much damage or deter their growth. They are doing well in south-central MO. zone 6. I have lots of peppers, both black and luscious lipstick red. I love both colors. Even in the hot, dry, on-the-verge-of -drought present conditions I have lots of those lovely purple flowers. These are a mildly hot pepper and letting the plant wilt a bit before watering doesn't seem to increase the heat. (That's what Rezha is for!) I use these raw in salads, in cooked recipes and in chutney and pickles. I also dice several bags full and freeze for winter use. I recommend this pepper.

What are the pros? Early and beautiful

What are the cons? None

Review:

These were the earliest and most beautiful peppers in my garden last year and am growing them again this year. The leaves are either a deep glossy green or a dark purple/black. The black peppers have a fresh green taste like a very mild jalapeno, and when allowed to ripen to red have a deep smoky flavor with medium spice. I like to let them ripen red and chop up to toss in a stir fry. If you are looking for pepper that is early, prolific, and beautiful you will not be disappointed.
