What are the pros? Very cold tolerant, prolific
What are the cons? none
This is a garden staple, one of the first delicious 'fruits' of our labor each year. The first and last thing I plant in my garden every year! Cold hardy surviving frost & light snows in both April & November. I pick one or two leaves off each plant each week for salads, some years leaves are bigger than my hand! Super easy to grow, nice smooth flavor, and if you shade them with carrots, tomatoes or other tall plants they will last longer before bolting in the heat. The leaves turn pointy instead of round and the taste goes bitter when it's too hot for them. Then let them go to seed and save for replanting! In 8 years I've never had an issue with bugs or mildew or anything with this spinach! A friend to the novice and the experienced gardener alike!
