Colorful blue, double flowers on tall 3’ plants, bloom all season. Very easy to grow. It is a self-seeding annual, so you will not have to replant.

What are the pros? Pretty.

What are the cons? Maintenence.

Review:

I bought these to attract pollinators in my garden. The internet suggested that (blue) bachelor buttons are favored by bees, but I never saw any on the flowers. Either I need to find peer reviewed sources or the bees themselves were being sneaky. As previous posts have mentioned, this blue bachelor button leans towards being slightly purple, but it it sure is pretty. Seed germination rates were high, and the silvery thin leaves are fun to look at. The plant itself grew a bit taller than I expected and did incredibly well both in the ground and in containers. Full sun seems to be a must for optimal flowering. The plants do require maintenance on a semi-daily basis though - each flower seems to last 1-3 days before it turns white and withers, so it requires constant dead-heading. The original description doesn't seem to be kidding about the self-seeding aspect of this plant. Try these if you get the chance. The flowers look great in small vases. :-)

What are the pros? Grew quick, color is a wow

What are the cons? died quickly

Review:

They were taller than I thought they would be, but 100% germination. Beautiful bright blue flowers that are great for cutting. Planted with many other flowers and they would fall over, hard to keep them upright while blooming and the plants died pretty quickly, although the other flower types were still growing. Too hot maybe? Going to try again for the fall time. I love the color of the blooms.

My daughter picked these as one of her flowers this year. She wanted perwinkle for her favorite fairy, and they are! Still blooming in a container in mid summer in NC zone 7. Will be planting again.

What are the pros? Very reliable flowers

What are the cons? None at all

Review:

Notes: - Started indoors in March - 100% germination - Transplanted in May into a newly composted bed - Grew fast - Some flopped after some major rain but you can easily manipulate the plant to stick straight up again. - Flowers —brilliant blue - Leaves —a nice blue-green color. One of the plants had yellow-green variegated leaves —not sure why ?????, it was a nice surprise though - I didn’t dead-head at all and it just kept flowering. - The bees ?? just love, Love, LOVE?? this plant. - When happy, these plants get tall —mine are over 3ft tall - Makes a great cut flower —lasts for at least 10 days PARTING THOUGHTS ?? This plant is so reliable and so eager to please that it’ll be a staple in my gardens forever. They’re great as filler plants on a sunny bed and give a lovely cottage-y feel to any landscape. HIGHLIGHTS - The spectacle of Bees ?? during sunset - The occasional Butterfly ?? visitor - When happy, plants exceeds height expectations
