What are the pros? prolific, yummy, bug resistant
What are the cons? None
I'm a new from-seed gardener so, not unexpectedly, I've had a lot of disappointments and made a lot of mistakes. Throw in leaf miners, whiteflies, house finches, and a cold, wet season and I've been on the verge of throwing in the trowel. This kale has kept me going mentally & emotionally. It's super rugged, prolific, has a high germination rate, delicious, and I just want to kiss it. It seems to germinate anywhere in the garden - containers, raised beds, among perennials, etc - and I never have to wait long to harvest leaves. My other brassicas have been ravaged by bugs & birds but they all seem to leave this one alone. I did learn the hard way to put a rubber snake on the dirt wherever I scatter seeds so the birds won't eat the seeds. It's great in salads, sandwiches, soup, and smoothies.
