Productive and delicious blueberries for the southern gardener. We have selected heat tolerant varieties that thrive in zones 8-10. These look great in the edible landscape and will remain evergreen in most of the South. Blueberries absolutely require acidic soil, so be sure to pH test the soil at your planting site before your plants arrive. You will need to amend with sulfur if the pH is too high, but this is easily done. Includes 2 small plants. We are super excited to be offering a selection of live plants, these are produced for us by tissue culture, a natural process that produces plants that are generally high-quality and disease free. We have some stunning new food crops in our plant listing, we hope you will try some of the exciting rare plants we offer this year. Pre-order now, as supplies on some these will be limited. The plants we ship are small, but sturdy, and we offer a 30 day guarantee on live plants. Most plants will be 6”-12” in height. Plants will ship as available after the first of April to the end of June. We will ship orders to southern zones first. No guaranteed delivery dates. No orders shipped outside of the USA. No Extra shipping costs, just pay our regular $3.50. (PRE-ORDER PLANTS WILL SHIP AFTER APRIL 1, 2018)

What are the pros? Sturdy plants, good value

What are the cons? Shipping dates

Review:

I ordered these blueberries for 2017 and am not dissatisfied with them but I wanted to leave a note for anyone else in a very hot climate where blueberries are "experimental" or hard to grow. All of these live plant starts are well packaged and healthy, and very fun to receive especially if you almost forgot about the order. My blueberries were Biloxi and Misty. The problem - for us in Arizona anyway - is the shipping dates. When these little guys arrived it was already over 100 during the day. Phoenix is not ideal for BB's but it can be done *in a pot* since our soil is 8.5ph. Since their delivery date is a surprise, you have to roll with it. Killed Misty and severely damaged Biloxi when the weather changed suddenly and I was away (my plant watering friend did not know to move the plugs in deeper shade). All in all, in Phoenix I would recommend buying a larger hardier plant or constant observation. My larger plants had no temp problems.

I also received Biloxi and Misty varieties. The plants were packaged with care and arrived in tact. So far, so good on growing. It's still early to tell how they will do.

Review:

I recommend these! I bought these blueberries last spring and they have grown very well (no fruit this past summer, but I wasn't expecting any----these are very small plants when you first receive them). They are now nice small bushes and so far they still have their leaves in my climate (zone 7). I am growing them in containers for ease of maintenance, and so far they've done great (had misgivings about being able to water them enough, but they showed no signs of drought stress all summer. They seem to handle periodically dry soil just fine). The two varieties I received, btw, were 'Biloxi' and 'Misty'. If anyone cares to post their experiences with these, I'd be curious to read what cultivars they received. I am thinking of ordering more but like variety. :-)
