What are the pros? heat hardy
What are the cons? young pods not very meaty
Still growing in Cuba in slightly alkaline soil with a lot of coral chunks and sand. Took on the tail end of our rainy season in December, no problems. Rain ended around New Year's, still no problems. Just took in the first batch of mostly dry beans for next season's seed (sorry BC, not buying more for 2018, I already more than tripled my seed stash).
Very cool coloring, ranging from just a few dots of red to a few that are nearly totally red. My son liked the young pods, ate them fresh off the plant. Dog only approved of leaves, said the calima beans were better as fresh pods, but these made fun toys to throw around the back yard because of the color.
The plot is just starting to suffer from pests and disease, but the beans will come in before much longer anyway
