What are the pros? None
What are the cons? Crop failure
Onions and I have a love - hate relationship. Michigan, zone 6A. It's me, I'm sure. Started indoors and was not vigorous from the beginning. Transplanted outside to watch the whole bunch wither away. I'll keep looking for an onion that tolerates the way I garden.

What are the pros? Nice onion!
What are the cons? None!
I started these indoors under lights in February. Put them outside around the beginning of April. They survived a few very cold nights. They seemed to germinate pretty well, and once they sprouted I didn't lose a single one. Most of them didn't get real big - about the size of tangerine. None of them bolted, and they all got a decent bulb. I've always thought red onions are kind of strong tasting, and these are too. I pulled these a couple months ago and they're still really solid, haven't softened up at all. I'm really happy with these, will grow them again next year.
