Buhl Sweet Corn

A delicious, 75-day yellow sweet corn borne on sturdy 7-foot stalks bearing 2 ears per stalk. Kernels are a rich golden hue and carry that old-fashioned sweet corn taste--that has nearly been lost due to sweet corn hybrids. One of the sweetest and best yielding corns.

What are the pros? Easy to grow and flavor

What are the cons? none

Review:

We ordered this corn because of the description given The description was spot on. For us, the stalks only grew to 5-6ft tall and each stalk did produced 2 ears of corn. The flavor was very sweet. We had a very wet season this year, so the days of maturity was 85 days. We would definitely grow again.

Review:

Despite what others have said, I found this corn GREAT tasting!! I boil it with sugar and vinegar (no salt)... it is quite sweet and yummy... The stalks are beautifully tall, and grew more ears per stalk than I expected... the only drawback I found (compared to other corn I grew) is that it has a slightly smaller sprouting rate. (i.e: I had to replant a few seeds that didn't sprout) 80-90% sprouting rate, from the usual 100%

What are the pros? Grew easily

What are the cons? Tasted horrid

Review:

I planted the corn and it grew nice big healthy stalks, I mean we're talking 8 ft tall or more. Nice looking ears of corn grew. Unfortunately, they are totally flavorless. We ended up tossing most of the corn out for the squirrels. I won't grow this variety again.

What are the pros? Easy to grow

What are the cons? taste

Review:

I was excited to grow a non-GMO yellow corn because they are so hard to find in the grocery stores. I was disappointed by the lack of sweetness and the starchy consistency of the kernels. Perhaps it's because this is not a hybrid corn, as mentioned previously, but I was not expecting such a difference. Another learning experience.for me. FYI, the maturity time was closer to 82-85 days rather than the 75 on the seed pack, if that is important to someone.

Review:

This is the first year trying this corn. I wanted a corn that I could save the seed from year to year. I just harvested and the corn was beautiful, full and very flavorful even with the lack of rain. Pests did not bother it at all. My only negative, if you want to call it that, is that it's not as sweet as a hybrid I'm use to but that's really my problem and not the corn's fault. I'm use to really sweet hybrid corn but the hybrid corn no where compared to the flavor of this one.
