70 days. An old standard variety; vigorous, high-yielding vines. Thomas Jefferson grew Blackeye Peas in the 1770s. Originating in Africa, cowpeas are easy to grow and are very popular in the South. A very ancient crop.

What are the pros? Super Fast Germination

What are the cons? None currently

Review:

I recently ordered these seeds for the first time ever. I have never grown blackeyed peas before but talking with a friend who is growing pinto beans I wanted to give some type of bean a try. I have grown green beans in the past but never these types. I planted the seeds on last Tuesday and here it is less than a week later and the seedlings are about 3 to 4 inches already. The foliage is a dark green which is also a positive. I am highly excited and hopeful that these will do well.

What are the pros? Productive, full pods

What are the cons? none

Review:

Planted a short row this year to try these. They Produced many full pods. The pods are ready when they turn creamy yellow to brown. I dry my beans/peas to use throughout the year. Flavor is very good! These are a bush bean, but may like a trellis anyways.

Review:

I planted these the middle to end of June & they have been producing in less than 60 days. That is just crazy!!! I have them in raised beds and mulched. They stand up great! I love the flavor and they are very easy to shell. I hadn't seen black-eyed peas this big before.

Review:

Great yields on this one. Californias are pretty a common cowpea. One of the most farmed type. I can see why. We've been having 100 degree weather and they're still producing. Excellent summer crop.
