What are the pros? Prolific, delicious, strong!
What are the cons? None
I've grown these before in good gardening soil. This year was our first year in a new community garden...clay soil, starving for nutritives. These carrots were absolutely courageous!! They had only about 5-6 inches in which to find growable soil, and I didn't get out there often enough to really thin them along the way. They grew strongly, albeit about 4-6 inches, sweet, and prolifically. I would have left them in for over-wintering, but we're going to add a LOT of nutritives, e.g. aged manure, peat, sand from fish screens for fertilizer, etc. I may plant a whole single plot of them next year, time-spacing them. Yummmm.
