What are the pros? big carrots

What are the cons? cool season only

Planted these in spring and they almost all bolted... those that didn't bolt were TINY. I was very upset because all of the varieties of carrots I purchased bolted. So I decided that I would try them during the winter... and BOOM... fabulous production. Most of the energy went into the root in lieu of big tall green growth on top. Pulled about 4 today and they are solidly 1 inch in diameter and range from 4-6 inches in length. They have such a wonderful sweet carrot aroma! They don't have any color variation in the core... which is disappointing from a carrot that is supposed to have a "red core"... If you live in the southeast.... i would heavily recommend these during the cool months. They only need to be covered if it snows/ices/freezes. No pests to worry about.
