What are the pros? grows easily

What are the cons? none

Review:

My first batch I was picking them too early. they were good but now I leave them on the plant longer and they are a little bigger and sweeter. Everywhere I plant these I get a handful of berries from one of them each day, They almost never make into the house, Sun makes them grow larger (the plant) but afternoon shade helps them not yellow and die off too soon,

What are the pros? pretty berries

What are the cons? self seeding psychopath

Review:

These plants grew super easy, easier than tomatoes for me. Then the birds ate a few and two weeks later these little buggers were popping up in every corner of my garden! My garden is in the back of my property and these buggers were popping up across my acre in my front decorative pots on my house . . . so either its my compost or the birds . . . pretty cool in a few ways but mostly just annoying. I thought the black berries were neat and the white star flowers were nice but tiny and the flavour really lacks on these, though they made a nice jam . Currently 30 degrees outside and I found another one popping up in my cleaned out flower bed . . . I'll leave it for the birds but definitely not like tomatoes which have the decency to die around 40 degrees.

What are the pros? Excellent cooked into jam and

What are the cons? Ripens unevenly

Review:

These taste awful raw, but when cooked they are a cross between blackberry and blueberry. I just need to figure out how to keep the early ripeners until I get enough to use! They seem to be insect and disease resistant, and so far, have not fallen prey to birds or mice. Definitely will do more next year.

What are the pros? Attractive, tasty, easy

What are the cons? Hard to tell when ripe

Review:

We tried these for the first time this year. They grow a lot like tomatoes. The berries turn black starting around mid July here in colorado, but they taste like tomatoes with a pungent foreign aftertaste. We learned to wait until the little stems attached to the berry also turn purple, also the juice will be more purple (opposed to green), at which time the berries are sweet and lose the weird after taste. They berries keep on the plant for weeks so no rush to harvest. It's mid August now, I'm thinking of making a pie and freezing some berries for later, but there is still half berries green. The plant itself is attractive, I have these growing in my perennial bed and even used some unripe and ripe berry stems in floral arrangements (no for eating obviously) for a little fun detail. They have tolerated being neglected and underwatered

What are the pros? VERY easy to grow

What are the cons? They taste...awful.

Review:

I don't know what I did wrong. My berries are small, shiny, and nearly black, but the seeds inside are very green, and they aren't sweet at ALL. They taste more like nettle, which is hard to believe. I sure wish someone could tell me what I did wrong. Is it my soil? Is there some nutrient missing? Do these like acid? Also these things aren't like pepper plants. These things are HUGE. I planted them in my garden box, but they're taking over. Most of the pepper plants I plant end up smaller than tomato plants, so I was thinking I could put this in a box. It's more like a mature blueberry bush in size. I'm not ready to give up on them...but...they're awful to eat right now. Is there a customer service number that can help me or something?
