(Capsicum chinense) A supremely spicy take on the super hot Seven Pot pepper, it is believed that the darker the color, the hotter the pepper--making Chocolate Seven Pot one of the rarest and hottest peppers. A pepper originally bred in Trinidad, this fireball is now popular among home pepper breeders who are competing to create the world’s next hottest pepper. Will you be the next champion pepper breeder?

What are the pros? Fun and Really Spicy!

What are the cons? None

Review:

This is a really fun super hot pepper to grow. The majority of the seeds sprouted within a week or two, and then they took off from there. I transplanted them outside about mid march and they have been thriving in the hot sun. The leaves are a light green, and the peppers take some time to really grow. Some got soggy and fell off which was really sad. However, the plant keeps producing flowers and I hope will continue producing into late summer. The peppers are really spicy and live up to the name seven pot! I made a pumpkin-apple hot sauce with these and the flavor is excellent. I'm hoping to transplant peppers into a large pot to bring indoors over the winter so I can start fresh next year with a fully mature plant. If you are interested in a tasty superhot, give this one a try!

What are the pros? Enormous heat, prolific

What are the cons? Long maturation

Review:

This is a great super hot pepper to add to your garden! They look absolutely evil. Smoky, pungent pepper flavor sits next to a raging heat. It’s probably best in sauces, as the raw product is an almost laughable level of fire. My plants have been prolific with yields. The plants can get quite large if you give them the room. As with almost all superhots, they can take some time to really start producing.
