This one is causing excitement in home gardens and at farmers markets. Carrots have bright purple skin and flesh that comes in shades of yellow and orange. Spicy and sweet-tasting roots are great for marketing.

What are the pros? Hardy

What are the cons? Didnt get very long

Review:

We got these for free so thought why not throw them out there. We had a lot of heat this year. We grew our carrots at the base of the tomatoes. The danvers only got maybe two inches long. The couple that survived anyway. The purple ones I honestly forgot about until Aug. My daughter pulled them up. They were 2-4 inches long. Werent woody at all. They have a strong almost spicy taste. We cut them up and put in a stew and it was perfect! Id grow them again.

What are the pros? Grew large in dense soil

What are the cons? tops break easily when pulling

Review:

These were good for us. They stayed fresh in the ground for awhile after harvest, little splitting, and super pretty. The tops do break easily. Some were missed in the ground and big healthy carrots were found beneath tops that looked like they had died back. They also grew pretty large in very loamy, compacted soil.

What are the pros? Grows well

What are the cons? Purple is only skin, too spicy

Review:

Hard to explain these carrots. Got them for free and figured I'd try them out. They have a kick to them, like horseradish, although not as potent, but I still found it unappealing. They grew as well as my Danvers half-long carrots, but I just didn't enjoy the extra kick. I loved the color, but if you clean them thoroughly, you will wipe off a lot of the purple, leaving a regular looking carrot underneath. I won't be growing these again.

What are the pros? Color

What are the cons? none

Review:

I've never had success with carrots in the past, but thanks no doubt in part to my raised bed these carrots performed wonderfully! Long bright purple roots, with yellow or orange interiors, the size of grocery store carrots. My children loved them and asked me to grow them again. I'm sure they're full of antioxidants, judging from the color. They were easy to grow. I have no great growing tips--just keep them moist when they're germinating and thin them after a while, as usual with carrots.
