This one is causing excitement in home gardens and at farmers’ markets. Carrots have bright purple skin and flesh that comes in shades of yellow and orange. Spicy and sweet-tasting roots are great for marketing.

What are the pros? flavor and colour

What are the cons? didn't plant enough

Review:

Got these as a free package of seed this year, and they did AWESOME! we had a very dry spring so the entire garden was a month behind by the time seeds started growing, i was expecting tiny carrots. NOT AT ALL what i got, they were great size grocery store size and larger but still very sweet and not woody. did a light thinning on them, grew very straight. I planted May 20th, started growing mid June, pulled early Sept. I feed three grown men who do not like to eat their veggies but every night that i cook carrots there have been some disappointed faces when they run out. Next trial is to see how they handle the freezer.

Review:

The first carrot I ever grew! Success! Except I went crazy and planted them too close together, my bad. Unrelated, it would be neat for you guys (rareseeds) to get a picture with different carrots lined up like a spectrum. My idea of the order: White, Yellow, Orange, Red, Purple, (Maybe an even darker purple?).

What are the pros? Delicious

What are the cons? loved them

Review:

Received these seeds as a bonus pack. After a very disappointing attempt last year with several varieties, I was not planning to even try carrots again this season. Perhaps it was improved soil conditions and companion planting, but these were Champs! The sweetest and tastiest (Brix In double digits!!!!) that I've grown or tasted in a very... very long time. They seem too be sensitive to soil conditions, changing from long to stubby depending on soil density levels, but not missing a beat on flavor. Winner winner cosmic carrot dinner! Thanks for the free seed that I would've never ordered before, but now I'll always find a niche for them in the garden.

Review:

It was my first time growing carrots and I grew these from seed. I direct sowed them in the garden in April and all of them grew. I have just started pulling some now as I need them. The color is great. I was surprised at the seed success rate.

What are the pros? Tasty, pretty, quick to ready

What are the cons? n/a

Review:

Received these as a sample from Rare Seeds and I've just bought a packet to sow for Fall, replacing my other varieties. They've done very well as a spring crop. Much larger, and ready much sooner than the others. They're beautiful and always elicit comments. Taste is sweet. So far we've only eaten in our spring, early summer salads but I'd imagine they'll be fantastic roasted in a few months. Would highly recommend for this area (southern, inland Massachusetts).
