Ive grown this squash for four years now- we dryfarm in a river region. germinated well indoors last year-& also planted direct seed, but that did not do as well, but enriched soil placed with seed @ planting- and I think it caused the plant to go into production too soon- the texture of this squash is excellent for roasting & freezing - excellent flavor. Not as watery as other varieties. (black beauty) Can’t live without it
